About Yarn

Sovereign AI infrastructure for Australia

Yarn is an AI platform built to give Australian researchers, organisations, and developers access to large language models with data sovereignty guarantees. When you use a sovereign model on Yarn, your data is processed on Australian hardware and never leaves the country.

What Yarn provides

Sovereign inference

Open-weight models (Mistral, Llama, and others) running on GPUs in Perth. Your prompts and responses stay in Australia.

Global model access

GPT-4o, Claude, and other frontier models via a unified, OpenAI-compatible API. Use one API key for all models.

Chat interface

A web-based chat UI at yarn.prosodylabs.com.au with conversation history, model selection, and data residency controls.

Research compute

On-demand GPU allocation for training and fine-tuning workloads, with a focus on supporting Australian researchers.

How it works

Yarn sits between you and the models. For sovereign models, your request is routed to a locally hosted model running on our GPU infrastructure. For global models, your request is proxied to the provider's API. In both cases, the interface is the same: an OpenAI-compatible API at api.au.yarn.prosodylabs.com.au.

You always know which category a model belongs to. Sovereign models are clearly labelled in both the chat UI and the API response, so you can make informed choices about data residency.

Who operates Yarn

Yarn is built and operated by Prosody Labs Pty Ltd, based in Perth, Western Australia. We are a small company focused on making AI infrastructure accessible and sovereign. Our current GPU infrastructure runs on bare-metal hardware in Perth.

Research focus

A core part of Yarn's mission is supporting Australian researchers with affordable GPU compute. We are building tools for training job submission, interactive GPU sessions, and distributed training — designed so researchers can focus on their work, not on infrastructure.

If you are a researcher interested in using Yarn for your work, we would like to hear from you. Reach out at jordan@prosodylabs.com.au or submit an inquiry.

Current status

Yarn is in private beta. We are onboarding users by invitation. If you would like early access, you can register your interest.
